Youth Project Worker
As a Project Worker you will play an active role in delivering our support service to young people. You’ll primarily be working with young people aged 16 to 25 in Hertford preparing to live independently once they leave the project. You will promote general individual health, safety and security within the scheme, overseeing contractors on site ensuring quality of work is maintained and carry out regular Health and Safety checks according to procedural requirements. You will advise and signpost residents on the availability of statutory and voluntary organisations offering specific assistance to older people and participate in care planning, case conferences and hospital discharge meetings as required. You will be the point of call for onsite emergencies and “buddy” for neighbouring schemes when required. You will maintain records of scheme expenditure and income and be responsible for checking repairs and process any purchase orders and all administration relating to your scheme(s).Please note, this is a part-time (20 hours per week), residential role which includes a 2-bedroom flat. Rent is to be paid weekly at £33.52 and is automatically deducted from your monthly pay.Key requirementsWith previous experience of working with older people, you will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of both internal and external customer needs and requirements. You will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and have the ability not to take criticism personally. You will be self-motivated, organised and proactive and offer a flexible approach to your work. You will value the importance of building positive customer relationships to ensure effective service delivery and be discrete, especially in matters of a confidential nature. Additionally, you will provide support with the Know Your Customer (KYC) process and handle the liquidity management responsibilities. The role You’ll primarily be working with vulnerable adults with learning difficulties, physical and mental health disabilities across the Hertfordshire area, to support them with maintaining their tenancy. You’ll need to work closely with your Senior Floating Support Worker and local care providers to make sure the service delivered is seamless and consistent. In doing so, you will maintain accurate records on your customers, and you will complete all administrative tasks required.Key requirements You may have some experience of working in a similar role, however if you have a passion or interest for working with vulnerable people then we’d still love to hear from you. You’ll need good IT skills and the ability to manage a complex caseload. People skills are an absolute must for this position, so you need to be a strong communicator both in writing and in person. Due to the nature of the role, a discreet and sensitive approach with strong professional boundaries is also required.
